Tags: Political Please note that any members that are interested in working at the refinery in Linden are required to have a minimum of OSHA 10 and they must have taken the course in the past three years. If you have OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 and you have taken the course more than three years ago, you are required to take a refresher course to meet the reequirements of the safety policy in the refinery. This is not an OSHA requirement, but it is required by the operators of the refinery. If your course was taken more than three years ago and you are interested in working at the refinery, please sign up for the refresher course on December 9th and 10th in our events calendar. The Union Plus Scholarship application can be accessed online at http://www.unionplus.org/benefits/education/scholarships/up.cfm. Please note the application is six pages long.
Unlike the IBEW Founders' Scholarship Program, the Union Plus Scholarship Program is available to the dependents of members of AFL-CIO affiliate unions.

Tags: Political We have been given information regarding new security requirements under the Maritime Transportation Security Act for any facilities that have access to shipping ports and vessels. We been advised that effective September 1, 2008 the Infinium / Tosco / Bayway Refinery site will require all people who work on the site to have valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC). The process of getting registered takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks and the cost is $132.50. Any members interested in working in any facility that is regulated under the Maritime Security Act should apply for this credential as soon as possible.
